About Yazda

Yazda is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2014 in response to the genocide committed by the self-declared Islamic State (“IS”) against the Yazidis and other communities in Iraq and Syria.

 

Objective of the Assignment

To enhance Yazda’s security management through:

  • A comprehensive security risk assessment of operations and locations;
  • Development of context-specific SOPs and emergency protocols;
  • Training of security staff and other relevant team members;
  • Provision of advisory support based on evolving threats and needs.

 

Main Responsibilities

A. Conduct Security Assessment

    • Evaluate Yazda offices, mobile clinics, and field missions.
    • Identify threats, vulnerabilities, and response gaps
    • Review past incidents and mitigation efforts
    • Conduct stakeholder consultations with key staff and partners 

B.Develop SOPs & Framework

  • policies and SOPs for:
  • Office and facility security
  • Field travel and movement protocols
  • Incident response and evacuation plans
  • Communications security
  • Emergency notification and escalation
  • Align SOPs with humanitarian security standards (e.g. INSO, EISF, UNDSS)

C. Deliver Training & Capacity Building

  • Develop and conduct tailored training on:
  • Security risk awareness
  • Emergency response and first aid
  • Evacuation and incident reporting
  • Personal safety and stress management
  • Simulations and tabletop exercises for leadership and security teams.

D. Provide Ongoing Advisory Support

  • Provide on-call or periodic security consultancy support (virtual or in-person)
  • Advise Yazda on region-specific risks, policy updates, and emerging threats
  • Review incidents and support post-event analysis

Confidentiality & Ethics

  • All information collected is the property of Yazda and shall be treated as confidential
  • The consultant must comply with Yazda’s Code of Conduct and data protection principles

 

Qualifications Required

  • A registered security company or consultancy
  • Demonstrated experience in humanitarian/NGO security in conflict-affected regions
  • Expertise in SOP development, HEAT or HSS training, risk assessments
  • Experience in Iraq and knowledge of the current security situation, especially in areas in which Yazda operates
  • Fluency in English and Arabic or Kurdish
