Organizational Setting
The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
Reporting Lines
The Programme Support will work Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and direct supervision of the Assistant Representative (Programmes).
Technical Focus
The incumbent will provide technical, programming, outreach, knowledge management and partner liaison support and advice in line with the activities and objectives of organization’s programmes and issues related to food security, nutrition and agrifood systems transformation.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Support implementation of activities and monitoring under the assigned projects that are planned in partnership with FAO service providers, government and non-governmental entities (arranged through LoA, MoU or UN to UN Agreement), and assist in preparing LoAs for internal clearance to engage different service providers.
• Participate in internal meetings, facilitate information sharing, assist in planning and coordination of internal activities.
• Provide technical assistance in areas of expertise; identify needs for short-term technical assistance; develop terms of reference; prepare consulting agreements for consultants, facilitates work; provide oversight of short-term consultancies.
• Detailed monitoring and reporting on expenditures associated with in-country activities.
• Liaise with FAO Country Offices, Government Counterparts, Technical Focal Points, Programme Officers and Communications for the organization of in-country activities, training and workshops.
• Contribute towards coordination of office support services towards meetings, trainings, seminars, committees, and special projects and events; attend meetings, prepare minutes, monitor follow-up activities; make arrangements for formal editing, translation, etc., of documents and publications.
• Establish and maintain cordial working relationships with and amongst project staff, stakeholders, and other relevant sectoral organizations.
• Monitor and maintain relevant information and databases on training, workshops, missions and seminars.
• Contribution to the preparation of budget revisions
• Contribution to the drafting and upkeep of the programme Dashboard.
• Facilitate the recruitment of International and National consultants, monitoring consultant payroll and timecards, while ensuring that all FAO policies and regulations are being met at HQ, country and regional levels.
• Support in the management of reimbursement of Technical Support Services
• Support in the organization of project task force meetings and project steering committee meetings, in line with FAO and donor requirements.
• Assist the Programme Team on Field Programme and Management Information System (FPMIS) related matters in coordination with the FPMIS Focal Point.
• Participate in project identification by preparing supporting documentation for project concept notes and project document formulation in close coordination with the Country Programmeme team.
• Participate in project implementation and monitoring by preparing the work plan and budget.
• Maintain current registers and management tools on the status of projects at various stages; detect inconsistencies in coordination with the Programmeme and Operations Team.
• Maintain, log, file and update records in the prescribed format for subsequent use.
• Prepare background material, working papers and tables for briefings, review sessions and meetings.
• Assist the Programme Team in utilizing the Programme Planning Implementation Reporting and Evaluation Support System (PIRES).
• Support the country office in reflecting the projects of Syrian refugees on JORISS for Government approvals.
• Support the country office with the Country Annual Report
• Assist the country office with Country Project Activity Information Database (PAID)
• Assist the country office with OPIM management monitoring and implementation Coordinate the preparation, submission, revision and follow-up of the Programme work and budget and the monitoring and the provision of information on the implementation of the projects.
• Provide feedback and guidance in the preparation of project work plans, monitor progress against delivery and when necessary, propose corrective solutions to overcome operational and Programmatic challenges.
• Provide overall Programmatic support to all Programme Team.
• Provide feedback and guidance on procurement, LOAs and project delivery to Programme team.
• Upkeep of schedules and records
• Performing any other duties as required
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor Degree in one of the following fields directly related to FAO’s activities\:
Agriculture
Forestry
Fisheries
Rural Development
Environmental Science
Food Security
International Development
Public Administration
Business Administration (with a focus on project management)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management or a related field.
• Working knowledge of English.
• National of Jordan.

Selection Criteria
• Experience working in an international development setting is a strong asset.
• Experience working with the UN system, particularly FAO, is highly desirable.
