Gregor Mendel Institut of Molecular Plant Biology
A Junior Group Leader position is available at the Gregor Mendel Institute (GMI). We seek a researcher who will contribute to our goal of making fundamental discoveries that help us understand how plants and other autotrophic organisms function. The GMI believes in enabling researchers at all levels to pursue big questions in an intellectually stimulating, diverse, and collaborative environment. Key to our success is minimal hierarchy and bureaucracy, outstanding facilities, and core funding.
Candidates are expected to be postdocs looking to start their own research group. Junior Group Leaders have up to 8-year non-renewable appointments. All group leaders enjoy complete intellectual freedom to develop their own research. Generous core funding at the level of an ERC grant is provided. There are no teaching obligations, but there are teaching opportunities.
The GMI is part of the Vienna BioCenter, one of Europe’s leading life-sciences research locations, home to over 2,800 researchers from at least 80 countries, and a broad spectrum of research institutes, universities, and companies. The campus is located near the center of Vienna, one of the world’s most liveable cities. The working language is English, and the environment is family-friendly, with subsidized on-campus child-care facilities.
Please send your CV, a letter of motivation and a brief description of your research program (no more than two pages) to [email protected].
Informal inquiries can be directed to any GMI group leader.
For full consideration, apply by October 20, 2024.
