Job Description
Context
Under the general guidance of the Community Engagement Officer, the overall supervision of the Recreational Facility Officer. The Fitness Coach, is accountable for delivering a positive workout experience by devising workouts that cater to men & children, including those with disabilities, providing progressions and regressions when necessary, and educating the guests on appropriate fitness principles and techniques.
Responsibilities
- Properly integrate all aspects of a safe and effective class, including sufficient warm-up, proper form, modifications, muscular activation, aerobic movement, flexibility, and appropriate cool-down.
- Create and deliver new, fresh, and innovative group exercise routines, ensuring punctuality and a positive attitude to motivate guest participation.
- Have a complete and thorough understanding of all instructors’ guidelines concerning the group fitness program for men and children.
- Stay updated on trends and display mastery in group fitness teaching strategies, class design, cueing technique, integration of music, tempo, and rhythm.
- Take records and create assessment reports and guest children attendance progress reports regularly.
- Prepare for each session by organizing materials and setting up the workout area, ensuring all participants are reminded to work at their own intensity level.
- Conduct sessions with a focus on participants’ benefits, providing personalized guidance and addressing safety concerns during workouts.
- Provide support and appropriate workouts for individuals at various levels of exercise, including beginners, advanced, and individuals with specific needs or disabilities.
- Design and implement safe and effective workout routines for children, ensuring their engagement and enjoyment.
- Conduct periodic re-assessments and modify fitness programs as needed.
- Provide clear instruction on the proper form and technique for all exercises to ensure safety and prevent injuries.
- Develop personalized fitness plans tailored to the guests’ needs, goals, and abilities.
- Participate in the continuous monitoring and evaluation of the program at different phases of activities.
- Ensure to maintain a clean and safe workout studio.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- University degree in Physical Education or related field from an accredited academic university or institute with a minimum of 2 years relevant working experience or
- Completed high school diploma with at least four years of relevant experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Excellent knowledge and skills in fitness training & coaching, sports, and resilience building.
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.
- Group Fitness Certification (ACE, AFAA, NSCA, ACSM, ZUMBA, Yoga Alliance, or equivalent)
- Experience working for the United Nations or a non-governmental organization is a distinct advantage.

Languages
REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
DESIRABLE
Working knowledge Dari, and Pashto is an advantage.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
